AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff are recommending the City Council adopt a resolution declaring surplus property. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: The City has recently completed the City Hall Workspace Improvements Project authorized by the City Council at their March 9, 2026, meeting. The workspace furniture that was replaced was outdated and primarily retrofitted into the current spaces from when City Hall relocated to the current building from the Prairie Center in 2012. The furniture was evaluated for use in other City facilities, with select items being repurposed at the East Wastewater Treatment Facility. City staff are recommending the remaining items be declared as surplus property and that they will be recycled or disposed of accordingly. Additionally, the City has included two hose cart reels that were acquired by the City with the intent of being displayed at the Fire Station as historical fire suppression tools but were removed from the final facility design for better space utilization. Also included are two sets of fire station storage lockers that were under-sized by the contractor installing them and were replaced with appropriately sized storage. City staff are recommending the items be declared as surplus property and to be sold via auction. The Administrative Subcommittee reviewed this information at their August 12, 2026, meeting and provided a recommendation for consideration of approval by the City Council.
