City staff recommend the City Council provide approval of an off-sale intoxicating liquor license.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The City Council on July 13, 2026, approved an off-sale intoxicating liquor license for Costco Wholesale Corporation
(dba Costco Wholesale #1743) at 11910 60th Street NE, starting August 14, 2026, to June 30, 2027. City staff have
received a request to hold a special meeting to amend the off-sale intoxicating liquor license start date from August
14, 2026, to August 4, 2026, for Costco Wholesale #1743 and has paid the $500 fee for a special meeting. The reason
for this request is so they can purchase liquor starting August 4, 2026. The retail sales starting will still be August 14,
2026.
Pending approval, City staff will forward to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Alcohol and Gambling
Enforcement for their approval.
