AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff is recommending the City Council approve a fleet vehicle purchase. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: The 2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes the replacement of a Streets Department tandem axle dump truck, a 2010 Mack tandem axle dump truck equipped with a plow package. Staff is requesting approval to replace this vehicle with an equivalent Mack tandem axle dump truck with a plow package. This replacement will support the department year-round by providing a reliable vehicle for hauling aggregate materials, street maintenance supplies, and equipment necessary for daily operations, while also serving as a critical snow and ice control vehicle during the winter months. Staff obtained State Contract quoted pricing from Nuss Truck & Equipment in the amount of $164,180.64 for the truck chassis and from Towmaster in the amount of $198,125.00 for the plow, wing, dump body, and snow and ice removal equipment necessary to meet the specifications of the truck being replaced, for a total purchase price of $362,305.64. This amount is within the approved 2027 CIP budget. Staff recommends the current vehicle be authorized for sale at auction following delivery of the replacement vehicle. The Public Works Subcommittee reviewed this request at its July 15, 2026, meeting and recommends consideration of approval by the City Council. City Council approval this year is paramount for receiving the plow truck before the Winter of 2027.
