City staff recommend the City Council accept quotes and authorize the 2026 trail maintenance project.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Each year, as part of the Trail Management Program, the City contracts for crack filling and seal coating of trail
segments. Trails are evaluated annually, and maintenance recommendations are based on condition assessments to
maximize the life expectancy of the City's trail system.
For the 2026 maintenance cycle, staff requested quotes from four qualified contractors. One quote was received by the
deadline. Staff reviewed the submitted proposal and determined it to be fair and reasonable based on recent bid history
and current market conditions. Staff recommend awarding the contract to the responding contractor TAG Asphalt and
Concrete (TAG). TAG is a reputable contractor who performed all the 2025 and 2026 Street crack filling as well as the
trail work in 2025.
The total cost of the recommended work will not exceed the approved project budget of $72,000. If project costs come
in below the approved budget, any remaining funds may be used to complete additional crack filling in high-priority
areas to further preserve and extend the service life of the City's extensive trail network.

season. All quote forms are to be emailed to njacobs@otsegomn.gov by June 24th, at noon.
