City staff recommend the City Council accept quotes and authorize purchase of East WWTF Control Media.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The East Wastewater Facility maintains three individual odor control units using special media to remove a variety of
odor constituents from high-risk locations; pretreatment, biosolids and aeration tank. Physical media testing is
conducted quarterly to trend life expectancy and effectiveness. Based on testing and odor breakthroughs, the
department recommends replacing it within each unit. In previous years staff replaced levels of media to reduce cost
impact with good results, however every 4 years a full replacement is required.
Staff recommend purchasing the media through Purafil for the amount of $102,627.01 excluding shipping with staff
completing labor to remove and install. The Sanitary Sewer Utility budget included funding in the amount of $110,000
for this replacement.
The Public Works Subcommittee was presented this information at their May 2026 meeting and provided
recommendation for consideration of approval by the City Council.
