No No
BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Staff are requesting the City Council approve of the hiring of the Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist position.
This new position was included within the 2026 General Fund Budget.
This position would work under the direction of the IT Manager to provide added capacity, additional expertise,
additional accessibility to City employees, and provide the necessary crossover functionality for vital operations. The
reliance upon technology is increasing across every department and within each City facility. The increase in IT support
tickets along with the growing concern of cybersecurity demands require additional support. This position provides
support as well as training across all departments.
The position received over 90 applicants, after interviews, the panel provided recommendation of hire to CJ Huettl at Pay
Grade 7, Step 4. CJ currently serves as Parks Maintenance II and has successfully gained education and experience for the
IT position outside of his current role. CJ will maintain his years of service credit for PTO accrual, based on his time with
the city. CJ successfully completed a background check and pre-employment screening required for this position.
With Council approval CJ will transfer from the Parks Department to the IT Department, with a start date of May 24.
Since this hiring would cause a vacancy in a Parks Maintenance position, staff are also asking for authorization to begin
recruitment to fill the Parks Maintenance position.
