City staff is recommending the City Council approve a fleet vehicle purchase.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The Utility Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes the replacement of the Utility Biosolids Tandem Dump Truck in
2027. Executing the state contract pricing now ensures 2027 delivery, invoicing with advantageous pricing. Vehicle
lead time and its invoicing will not be incurred until 2027.
State Contract pricing was received for replacement of the Utility Biosolids Tandem. Equipment representatives
identified a total truck build of $244,122.48, within CIP forecast of $255,000 for chassis and dump box. Additional
outfitting required includes Otsego Emblem, Safety Strobes not to exceed $5,000 bringing vehicle total not to exceed
$249,122.48. The existing biosolids tandem will be auctioned after receipt of replacement within 2027 calendar year.
Staff with Lead Mechanic actively assisted the truck build to suit its biosolids transport responsibility. The purchase is
Utility funded through the sanitary sewer budget; replacement scheduled at a 20-year duration. Staff recommend
procurement authorization to establish 2027 vehicle arrival and escalation derisking advantages.
The Public works Subcommittee was presented this information at their April 2026 meeting with recommendation for
consideration of approval by the City Council at a future meeting.

$249,122.48, and to authorize City staff to auction the current tandem dump truck upon receipt of the new vehicle.
