03.10.2026 Public Safety Meeting MinutesPUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION Prairie Center March 10, 2026 6:30 PM Call to Order: This meeting was called to order at 6:31 PM, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: Chair David Greeman; Commissioners: Dan Freiberg, Gregory Hubbard, Loren Green, Kyle Heltemes, and Jim Buchanan. Absent: Judy Sibert, Rossamon Becker City Council: Present - Mayor Jessica Stockamp, CM Dunlap, Absent - Tina Goede 2.Consider agenda approval. Commissioner Dan Freiberg motioned to approve agenda as written. Seconded by Commissioner Gregory Hubbard. All in favor. Motioned carried. 6-0 3.Annual Business: Election of Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary Nominations Chairman David Greeman motioned by Dan Freiberg, seconded by Gregory Hubbard, Motion Carried 6-0. Vice Chairman Dan Freiberg, motioned by Gregory Hubbard, seconded by Loren Green, motion carried 6-0. Secretary Kyle Heltemes, motioned by Dan Freiberg, seconded by Gregory Hubbard, motioned carried 6-0. 4.Consider the following minutes: 4.1 February 10, 2026 Commissioner Dan Freiberg motioned to approve the minutes as written. Seconded by Commissioner Gregory Hubbard. All in favor. Motion carried. 6-0 5.Open Forum. Chairman Greeman introduced a new member of the Public Safety Commission. Jim Buchanan will serve as an alternate. Jim has many years of law inforcement experience working in Silcon Valley, CA. 6.Review received monthly reports. 6.1 Albertville Fire Department. There was no representation from the Albertville Fire Department 6.2 Elk River Fire Department There was no representation from the Elk Rive Fire Department 6.3 Rogers Fire Department. There was no representation from the Rogers Fire Department 6.4 Wright County Sherriff Department. Sargent Jason Oltmanns met with Wyndham Garden Hotel lifeguards and safety personnel to discuss the best use of emergency services in Otsego. He explained that the first step is to call 911, while someone renders aid. Calling 911 immediately allows emergency services to arrive faster. 7.Report from Interim Fire Chief Mike Scott From the HAM Radio presentation last month Fire Chief Scott met with the organization and tried to identify a spot to place an antenna on the roof of the fire station. The height limit is four feet. Interior finishes and washers are going in with landscaping in May. The fire station is currently under budget. The Elk River Fire Chief will be retiring. The open Fire Chief position had 18 applicants, 8 were interviewed with it narrowed down to 5. The goal is to present 2 candidates to the city council by March 25th. 8.Set Next Meeting April 14, 2026, 6:30 p.m. 9.Adjourn. Commissioner Dan Freiberg motioned to adjourn.
