Dear Mr. Johnston:
This office serves as the City Planner for the City of Otsego.
The Otsego River Riders Snowmobile Club has requested documentation from the City of Otsego
regarding allowance of snowmobile trails within City right-of-way, which are maintained by the Otsego
River Riders and Wright County Snowmobile Association.
The City reserves all rights to regulate use of snowmobiles within the City. Snowmobile operations
within the City are subject to the current regulations established by the following provisions of the City
Code:
Title 7, Chapter 3; Snowmobiles and Other Recreational Motor Vehicles
Title 8, Chapter 3; Right-of-Way Management
Title 8, Chapter 7, Park and Trail Regulations
The City Code, specifically Title 7, Chapter 3, establishes provisions for trails within City rights-of-way
and operation of snowmobiles upon them. Provided that the use of the trails and operation of
snowmobiles upon the trails is undertaken consistent with the provisions of the City Code, the activity is
allowed. Designated trails within City right-of-way include the following:
85th Street between Jaber Avenue and Kadler Avenue
McAllister Avenue between 60th Street (CR 137) and 77th Street
67th Street between McAllister Avenue and Nadala Avenue
87th Street west of Mason Avenue
Mason Avenue between 83rd Street and 87th Street
83rd Street approximately ¼ mile east of Mason Avenue
Quaday Avenue from 70th Street (CSAH 38) to 72nd Street
72nd Street between Quaday Avenue and Quam Avenue
Over City property at 45.2723, 193.55785 and 45.27566, -93.55831

Trails within Minnesota Department of Transportation or Wright County right-of-way are subject to
rules established by those jurisdictions. Trails within Otsego crossing private properties are subject to
agreements with the property owners.
Snowmobiling continues to be an enjoyable winter activity in Otsego due to the efforts of the Otsego
River Riders. City staff wishes to extend the appreciation of the City Council for these efforts; the City is
pleased to support the continued development, maintenance, and use of snowmobile trails within
Otsego.
