AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommend the City Council approve position status for two part-time positions be authorized full-time. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: City staff are recommending the City Council approve two positions from a part-time equivalent (0.8 FTE) to full-time. The 2026 Utility Budget includes expanding Office Coordinator hours from benefited 32 to 40 hours per week with alignment of operations hours Monday through Thursday 7-4 and Fridays 7-11. This timing allows for Friday availability, expanded customer interactions, regulatory compliance timing, record documentation protocols, meter replacement activities and software implementations. The Office Coordinator, which has been occupied by Linda Canton, has elevated City and Department activities supporting customer services, regulatory programs and office services. The 2026 General Fund Budget includes the transition of the Communications Specialist role to full-time status. Currently the position, occupied by Heidi Carey, has been 32 hours per week. The new schedule would align with City Hall hours, Monday through Thursday 8-5 and Fridays 8-12. Staff have seen the need for additional hours based on events, increased communication needs, internal production of the City newsletter, and growing cross department collaboration.
