BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
City Staff have received a request from Becky Randall, PA-C, to adopt a proclamation endorsing October 6-12, 2025 as
Physician Assistant Week. PAs are proud to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in every clinical setting
including many residents of our city. A proclamation from your office would mean a great deal—not only to me and
my colleagues, but also to the patients we serve every day.
The Administrative Subcommittee reviewed this request at the September 10, 2025, meeting, and agreed with the
request and recommended the City Council consideration of adoption.

Recognizing Physician Assistant Week
WHEREAS, physician associates/physician assistants (PAs) are licensed clinicians who practice
medicine in every specialty and setting; and
WHEREAS, PAs are trusted health care providers who work as part of collaborative medical teams
to expand access to high-quality care for patients; and
WHEREAS, the PA profession was created more than 50 years ago to improve and expand health
care, especially in underserved areas; and
WHEREAS, PAs diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications,
and often serve as a patient’s principal health care provider; and
WHEREAS, PAs in Minnesota are vital to the delivery of healthcare in urban, rural, and underserved
communities; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Academy of PAs (MAPA) supports and advances the professional
development of PAs across our state; and
WHEREAS, October 6–12 is nationally recognized as PA Week, celebrating the contributions
of PAs and the vital role they play in improving health;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jessica Stockamp, Mayor of Otsego, do hereby proclaim October 6–12, 2025
as PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT WEEK in the City of Otsego, and encourage all community members to
recognize and support the vital contributions of PAs in our healthcare system.
