RECOMMENDATION:
City staff is recommending the City Council adopt a resolution declaring surplus property and authorizing sale.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
City staff have identified several vehicles and pieces of equipment from the Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and
Public Utilities departments that no longer serve any useful City function. City staff are recommending the equipment
be declared as surplus property and that the equipment is sold via auction.
The Public Works Subcommittee reviewed this information at their September 17, 2025, meeting and provided a
recommendation for consideration of approval by the City Council.

RESOLUTION NO: 2025-44
DECLARING CITY PROPERTY AS SURPLUS PROPERTY
AND AUTHORIZING SALE
WHEREAS, the City has determined that the following items no longer serve any useful City function; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute §471.345, subd. 17 outlines a municipality may contract to sell surplus property using an
electronic selling process in which purchasers compete to purchase the surplus property at the highest price in an open and
interactive environment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has met to discuss and review the surplus property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA:
1. That the items listed above are hereby declared surplus City property.
2. That City staff are hereby authorized to proceed with the disposition of the property in accordance with Minnesota
Statute.
