AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommend the City Council approve the hiring of Community Risk Reduction Team Member positions. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: The Otsego Fire & Emergency Services Department has developed a Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Team to provide essential public education, fire prevention outreach, safety training, and community engagement prior to the department’s full operations launch on January 1, 2027. Team members will be participating in scheduled events such as community events, fire safety presentations, and recruitment activities. City Staff posted the position on June 24 and completed the first round of applicant reviews on July 2. Interviews were held on July 8, and all eight applicants were interviewed. The interview panel recommended all applicants for hire. Everyone has successfully completed a background check, and it is recommended to hire them to the position of Community Risk Reduction Team Member. BUDGET INFORMATION FUNDING: BUDGETED: General Fund – Fire Protection (42200) This cost was not budgeted specifically but can be provided through transfers of budgeted appropriations within the adopted Fire Protection Department budget.
