BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Eighteen years ago, CenterPoint Energy started the Community Safety Grant program, providing an
opportunity to work with communities on a shared commitment to safety. CenterPoint Energy has funded
1,182 projects and awarded more than $2.3 million in grants. The program offers matching grants up to
$2,500 for eligible safety and emergency response equipment.
City staff submitted an application to the grant program for the purchase of two additional 800mhz radios,
which are used by City staff for many different purposes including but not limited to: routine
communications, emergency operations and City events. City staff has been notified that the City was
awarded a grant in the amount of $2,500.

RESOLUTION NO: 2021-71
ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM CENTERPOINT ENERGY
WHEREAS, CenterPoint Energy has awarded a Community Safety Grant in the amount of $2,500 to the
City of Otsego; and
WHEREAS, the Community Safety Grant is for the purpose of providing safety and emergency
equipment and will be used to purchase two additional 800mhz radios; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations of real or personal property
be accepted only with adoption of a resolution of the governing body; and
WHEREAS, the City of Otsego sincerely thanks CenterPoint Energy for their generous donation and for
its support of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA:
1. That the Community Safety Grant donation from CenterPoint Energy in the amount of $2,500 is
hereby accepted.
